Every Company in the Business of construction must be registered with the National Construction Authority (NCA) in order to engage in major Government infrastructure projects such as tenders, supplies and general participation in Engineering, Roads and bridges, building Construction works and Architectural design industry in the country.
No Construction company in Kenya can receive a permit unless it has registered with the National Construction Authority (NCA).
Requirements for registration of a construction company in Kenya at the National Construction Authority (NCA)
The following are the documents required to accompany the application:
- Incorporation or Registration certificate from the Registrar of companies for a limited liability company, partnership or sole proprietorship;
- For a limited liability company, the Memorandum and Articles of Association certified by the Registrar of companies should also be included.
- A Board resolution from the technical director, authorized by the Board to take responsibility on all technical matters.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) for each Director / Partner.
- The PIN, V.A.T and Tax compliance of the Company
- Documentary evidence of an existing bank account in the name of the construction company.
When applying for registration as a contractor in Kenya, at least one of the technical directors should posses the mandatory qualification requirements in the various categories listed below;
- NCA 1: At least one Director must have a minimum of Bachelors Degree in construction related field.
- NCA 2: At least 1 Director must have a minimum of Bachelors Degree in construction related field.
- NCA 3: At least 1 Director must have a minimum of Higher Diploma in construction related field.
- NCA 4: At least 1 Director must have a minimum of Higher Diploma in construction related field.
- NCA 5: must have a Diploma.
- NCA 6: must have a Certificate.
- NCA 7: must have a Trade test.
