What is CR12?
A CR12 is an official search document given by the Registrar of Companies indicating the directors and shareholders of the company.
The search report also shows the authorized share capital, the company’s Registered Office, debentures, Charges or caveats or any encumbrances registered with the Company. An application for CR12 document may be made by any person. Each applicant for CR12 is required to draft a letter to the Registrar of Companies requesting the details to be provided for each particular company. The registrar of companies in Kenya issues a CR12 form or in other words CR 12 certificate after the application is received.
Why CR12?
CR12 official search report is required by Banks from their customers and when obtaining licenses from National Government, Government Agencies and County Governments. It is also required when a Company is bidding for Tenders or entering contracts with third parties.
