Kenya fully represented at the Milan Expo 2015 (Expo Milano)

Expo 2015 is the current Universal Exposition being hosted by Milan, Italy. The opening took place on 1 May 2026 at 10:00 am and the expo will close on 31 October 2015. More than 20 million visitors from over 140 participating countries show the best of their technology that offers a concrete answer to a vital need: being able to guarantee healthy, safe and sufficient food for everyone, while respecting the Planet and its equilibrium.

What is the relevance of the Milan Expo 2015?

This year’s expo is themed “Feeding the planet, energy for life”. This embraces technology, innovation, creativity, traditions and culture and and how they relate to food production. The Milan Expo 2015 further develops themes introduced in earlier Expos.The Milan Expo 2015 (Expo Milano) analyzes the history of the two aspects of food production: traditional cultural values and the use of new technologies.

Kenya week at the Milan Expo 2015

The major activities for the week at the Milan Expo 2015, scheduled from 7th to 12th September 2015, include , Tourism and Investment Forum, Cultural day just to mention a few. President Uhuru Kenyatta, accompanied by Cabinet Secretaries, Members of the Kenya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, artistes and sports men, launched the Kenya Week in a series of activities labelled “Kenya, the land of unlimited possibilities”.

President Kenyatta, who is on a state visit in Italy, acknowledged that the exposition (Expo Milano) granted Kenya a chance to showcase investment opportunities as well as exhibiting the country as the preferable tourist destination. He further added that Kenya’s participation in the Milan Expo 2015 will greatly help Kenya tackle the challenge of food production and improve quality of life of Kenyans.

Additionally, on Wednesday, President Kenyatta at the ongoing exposition, also launched a new digital portal MakeItKenya.com which is purposed to support social media platforms thus allowing Kenyans to interact with the outside world. The launch comes at a strategic time; days after Kenya hosted the global entrepreneurship summit (GES2015) and the expected visit of the Pope to the country later on this year.
